Absorbed or Adsorbed?

No, it’s not a spelling mistake.
In Chemistry,
Absorption is a physical or chemical process in which atoms, molecules or ions enter some bulk phase- a solid, liquid or a gas. It is a bulk phenomena.
And.
Adsorption is a physical or chemical process in which, molecules of a solid, liquid or a gas adhere to the surface or a material. It is a surface phenomena.
I’m not writing this to tell you what Chemistry is, and give details of adsorption and absorption.
But. What are you? Surface, or bulk?
Think.
When you get attached to someone, is it from the surface or bulk?
Think.
When you pour out your heart, is it surface or bulk?
You get me?
Let’s talk about this one by one.
You, yourself.
Look at yourself, your inner self.
Look at yourself in the mirror and look at the inner you. Are the two same?
Look at yourself at 2 in the afternoon and at 2 in the middle of the night. Are the two same?
Is it the similarity you notice first or the dissimilarity?
Getting attached to someone, perhaps, your bestfriend.
When you get attached to your bestfriend, is it surface or bulk?
Is it that you laugh with her only during the happy moments, or even when she feels like crying?
Is it that you share all your achievements with her, or even the failures?
Is it that you’re there make her feel happy only on her birthday or all the year round?
Is it that you love her from the surface or bulk?
Are you surface, or bulk?
Pouring, letting your heart out.
Is it that you talk to her only when you need her, or even when she needs you?
Is it that you are with her when she’s smiling and narrating a funny experience, or even when she wants to tell you the tragedies in her life?
Is it that you call her your bestfriend only from the surface, or from the bulk?
Surface, or bulk? What are you?
Perhaps, either. Perhaps, both?
And, I don’t know which one is better in a world where the people who are ‘ours’ are the ones to hurt us and we hurt only them.
I really don’t know.
These are some questions, that are unanswered.
Is it better to be absorbed or adsorbed?
Are you absorbed, or adsorbed?

  1. Now this is so amazing. I loved your analogy. Absorption or adsorption ?These days we’re all so beguiled by the outward appearances that we actually tend to make some of the biggest mistakes of our lives.
